The 2021 edition of IFI’s Trends and Insights study found that US-based companies accounted for 150,801 of the 327,329 patents issued during the year. In a distant second place was Japan with 47,105, followed by South Korea (21,264), China (20,679), and Germany (14,663), to round out the top five. While the rest of the top five countries saw their patent approvals decline between 2020 and 2021, China’s actually surged, going from 18,792 to the aforementioned 20,679....

The 2021 SANS ICS/OT survey got 480 responses, with 47% reporting that their ICS security budgets increased over the past two years. Another 32% said there had been no change.
