However, PC business was down due to component shortages. Intel’s non-GAAP earnings per share came to $1.71 on GAAP revenue of $19.2 billion, up 5% year-over-year. Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.11 on revenue of $18.24 billion. “Q3 shone an even greater spotlight on the global demand for semiconductors, where Intel has the unique breadth and scale to lead,” CEO Pat Gelsinger said in a statement....

According to Macquarie Telecom, it will invest an initial AU$78 million to build the core and shell of the new 32-megawatt Intellicentre 3 (IC3) Super West facility. Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) has detected exploits targeting systems running Zoho ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus, a self-service password management and single sign-on solution, with the remote code execution bug tracked as CVE-2021-40539. Zoho is best known as a popular software-as-a-service vendor, while ManageEngine is the company’s enterprise IT management software division. It’s a targeted malware campaign, so most Windows users shouldn’t need to worry about it, but Microsoft has flagged the campaign, which it first observed in September, because it’s aimed at the US defence industrial base, higher education, consulting services, and IT sectors....

Video calls are a key feature of Teams and this is one area Microsoft has targeted to reduce power consumption by cutting the CPU and graphics loads when using a video camera with the app. Since June 2020, Teams CPU and memory usage has been halved, according to Microsoft’s internal measurements.
